Many schools or university departments require or encourage their students to complete internships or clinical placements with outside institutions as part of their graduation requirements. Most of these internships require a contract or membership agreement between the institution and the university as a prerequisite for welcoming our students as interns or interns. Legal proposals are provided here for informational purposes. The Office of general Counsel should be contacted for advice on the design of contracts and agreements. At its June 2014 meeting, the Liaison Committee for Medical Education approved the AAMC Uniform Clinical Training Affiliation Agreement, which meets its accreditation standards. The support limits a multi-year public relations process to reduce the need to negotiate and renegotiate agreements for short-term and supervised training experiences, which pose a relatively low risk to all parties involved. Our goal is to eliminate the unnecessary time and resources currently spent on negotiating (and renegotiating) agreements, if a standard and predictable approach is sufficient. The AAMC Uniform Clinical Training Affiliation Agreement is a simple and unique agreement that can be found on the AAMC website. A good starting point for entering into an acceptable agreement is the use of one of our standard templates for affiliate agreements. The more the institutions use the uniform agreement, the more time everyone saves. Add the name of your institution to our registry even today by sending an e-mail to firstname.lastname@example.org. Either party may terminate such affiliate addition by indicating the other party 90 days in writing on the date of termination.
If either party finds in good faith that the injuring provision cannot be changed as provided for in the above sentence, in that case, either party may, at that time, terminate such affiliate addition.
